Romona Named National Blue Ribbon School!

Romona Elementary School has been named a National Blue Ribbon School as announced today by the U.S. Department of Education and Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona. This significant achievement marks the third time that Romona has earned the National Blue Ribbon Schools distinction (2006, 2017).

Romona Named One of Apple Distinguished Schools for 2023-26

District 39 is thrilled to announce that all four of its elementary schools (Central, Harper, McKenzie, and Romona) have been recognized as Apple Distinguished Schools for 2023-26. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School earning the recognition last year, meaning all six District 39 schools are now Apple Distinguished Schools.

Romona Awarded Renewable Energy Grant

Romona was one of five District 39 schools that have been awarded a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation as part of its K-12 Solar Schools program, which fosters the teaching of science, math, technology, and the environment through the use of solar panels to create energy.
