Cindy Anderson

Mrs. Anderson is in her ninth year as the principal at Romona Elementary School. She has worked in District 39 for 22 years and has been in education for a total of 24 years. Before she came to Romona, she taught for 12 years and spent three years as the Sixth Grade Level Administrator at Highcrest. Mrs. Anderson earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan, her master's degree from Northwestern, her National Board Certification in Math, and her Administrative Certificate from DePaul. While she has attended a number of universities, she is a Michigan Wolverine through and through; Go Blue!

 

Mrs. Anderson has two beautiful children with her husband, Jason. Owen is fifteen and going into tenth grade and Lyla is eleven and going into sixth grade. In her free time, Mrs. Anderson loves playing games and soccer with her kids, cheering on Michigan football, and reading her favorite books, the Harry Potter series.

This is Mrs. Anderson fourth year as the full-time assistant principal at Romona Elementary School and 6th year in administration. Before entering into administration, Mrs. Anderson served as a school psychologist for 13 years, with 12 of those in the Hawthorn School District. She earned her Master in School Administration from Northeastern University, her Educational Specialist degree and Masters in Psychology from Radford University, and her bachelor's degree from Calvin College. She considers herself a lifelong learner!  

Mrs. Anderson has a wonderful husband, Jeremy, and two amazing kids. Joshua is 11 years old (sixth grade) and Caroline is nine years old (fourth grade). Together they enjoy outdoor activities, such as biking and basketball, working on home improvement projects, and spending time with their dog, Mabel. It is a busy, but wonderful, time of life!

Mrs. Johnson is beginning her first year as a Student Services Coordinator while it is her 15th year at Romona in the Lechner Early Education Program and her 17th year teaching in District 39. Previously, she taught at Central Elementary. She received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University. She also has her English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement from Concordia University. In her free time she enjoys anything and everything involving fitness along with going on adventures with her 13 year old daughter, 11 year old daughter, and 9 year old son. She also enjoys reading, being outdoors, vegan baking, and playing/watching sports.
